A cable worker died in North Knox County when a cable got caught in a passing truck. The line struck and killed 29 year old Bruce Lee Marion of Oneida as he was installing a voice and data fiber optic cable.
According to the neighbors, safety signs were not visible where the cable worker died. Apparently there were no warning signs, safety signage or traffic cones visible. The cable crew arrived on their road a short time before the incident occurred. It is believed that the cable team consisted of three workers and two work trucks.
Bruce Lee Marion worked for J&R Cable out of Huntsville, Tennessee but was working for Windstream Communications on this particular project.
The police released that the accident happened at the intersection of Beaver Creek Lane and Central Avenue Pike prior to 8pm. The driver of the pick-up truck that caught the wire which struck Marion is not being charged at this time.
