This may be an unconventional way to defend bullying but this epidemic needs to be handled and Brazilian Jui-Jitsu could be the answer. There was a boy from Denver Colorado who has been tortured and tormented by bullies his entire life. At an earlier age there were no bullying signs but as Martin got older his mom began to realize the emotional scars her child was receiving.
Martin Hendricks finally took astand and decided to do something about it this year. Hendricks spent a week this summer in Torrance, CA where he went through a “Bully Proof” training course with the Gracies. The bullying training camp consisted of five day lessons to teach him how to defend himself and build self-confidence.
The Gracie family were the creators of the 100 year old practice of Brazilian jiu-jitsu and founders of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. The Gracies wanted to make a bigger impact to start targeting bullies.
Kids across the country are gearing up to go back to school, some children are excited and others are petrified. In a proven study, 150,000 kids miss school every day to avoid being bullied. The schools are aware but still have not posted anti bulling signs or taken the proper steps to deter bullying.
So you may be wondering what ever happened to Martin. After being taught the strategic non-violent method of self-defense, Martin took control of the situation. Within 4 days of school he and his friend were being bullied, Martin leaped off a lunch bench and while in midair hit the bully in the chest with both hands. He then pinned the bully and waited for the principal.
Lets put it this way. The bully know thinks Martin is crazy, apologized, and experienced the humiliation Martin felt his whole life.
